Chef Matthew Harker's Specialties

My passion for the art of cooking began as a child spending time in the kitchen with my Calabrese and Galician grandparents. While other children were watching Sesame Street, I was watching the greats: Julia Child, Jeff Smith of "The Frugal Gourmet" and Bob Ross.  My desire to create art in many forms became clear to my mother, who enrolled me in "The Red Barn" art studio at age 5.  

Over the years I have traveled extensively absorbing the art, architecture, and cuisine of many cultures in various countries. This worldwide exposure, and adventurous nature has greatly influenced the style and palate of all that I come to imagine and create.  After a lifetime of cooking, baking, and catering for those closest to me, I decided to start my own Personal Chef and Event Design business.  Today, I work hard to produce meals and events for my clients with all the love and attention to those prepared for my own friends and family.  

My degree in culinary nutrition and food science compliments my classical culinary training.  Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and athletic performance cuisine allows me to create culinary delights that can be tailored to fit any dietary requirement or achieve your athletic goals.  I incorporate the classical training ideals of flavor and presentation with the health ideals and goals of the modern person.  

I am a member of The Chef's Collaborative, a leading nonprofit network of chefs that is changing the sustainable food landscape using the power of connections, education and responsible buying decisions.  The Chefs Collaborative allows chefs in the Boston area to connect with the greater food community to celebrate local foods and foster a more sustainable food supply.

Hiring a private chef offers a unique culinary experience in the comfort of your own home.  As a private chef I create memorable menus using the freshest ingredients sourced locally to create personalized and artistic dishes.  My training and travels allow me to specialize in New American, Spanish, Italian, French, Latin, Japanese and Thai cuisines.  Whatever your event rest assured a private chef experience will be a night to remember.  

I am trained in classical service and offer skilled staff to lay the table, pour wine, serve, clear, and assure your home is left immaculate. We take all the stress out of your special occasion and allow you to be the hostess with the mostest without lifting a finger, because your kitchen is our business!
